TOTH News:
The community is invited to join Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church, 3900 Trinity Dr., for its free Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13. Enjoy good food and fellowship while listening to Jan McDonald and his brass quintet 6-7 p.m. playing live jazz.
Ash Wednesday is always immediately preceded by Shrove Tuesday, also known as Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras. The tradition of a pancake supper comes from the old English custom of using up the fattening ingredients in the house to prepare for fasting during Lent.
There will be plain pancakes as well as gluten-free, all the toppings for the pancakes, sausage, fruit salad, and drinks. During the free event, Trinity on the Hill will collect donations to benefit LA Cares.
The mission of Trinity on the Hill is to share the power and joy of God’s love, to fully embrace all God’s children, and to respond to the needs of our community and the world in the spirit of Jesus Christ. Visit our website at latoth.org.
