Mango’s Cafe at 1325 Trinity Drive in the American Legion Post 90 in Los Alamos is open to the public 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursdays & Fridays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.

The menu includes American bar food classics like chicken wings, fried pickles, fried okra, burgers, salads and sandwiches. Prices are very reasonable.

In addition, the Legion features live music on LANL payday Fridays. Their next live show is Sunbender, a group featuring modern alternative originals and hit songs from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and current. This show will be 8 p.m. to midnight Friday, Dec. 15, and there is no cover charge. Check out the Legion’s Facebook site for upcoming events. All are welcome, just sign in as a guest if you are not a member.

I recently visited Mango’s Cafe with my son and we shared wings and the fried veggie basket. The wings were hot, fresh and crispy; we tried the lemon pepper and classic hot wings. They had other flavor options as well. We got 12 wings, split amongst the two flavors, and it came with fries.

What is the American Legion? The American Legion, commonly known as the Legion, is a non-profit organization of United States war veterans headquartered in Indianapolis, Ind. It comprises state, U.S. territory and overseas departments, in turn, made up of local posts. You do not have to be a member to go there, though you do need to sign in as a guest.
