This month’s Friends of History First Wednesday Lecture Series features an engaging presentation in anticipation of the Fred Harvey History Weekend in November. Librarian and archivist Kathleen Dull will take people on “the world’s most distinctive motor cruise service”—the Fred Harvey Indian Detours. Discover the origins of a new kind of tourism, one that revolutionized the industry and altered the economic and cultural trajectory of the Southwest. During this talk, Kathleen will delve into the beginning of the Fred Harvey Company’s Indian Detours, including Erna Fergusson and her Koshare Tours. Learn about the drivers and couriers and enjoy armchair travel in Fred Harvey luxury while exploring the Southwest.
