State Broadband Office Launches Free Broadband Workforce Development Program

SANTA FE — The Office of Broadband Access and Expansion (OBAE) today launched a statewide workforce development program that will offer internationally recognized certifications to prepare New Mexicans for high-paying jobs in the growing broadband industry.

OBAE Proposes $10 Million For Broadband Affordability

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Office of Broadband Access (OBAE) and Expansion (OBAE) has announced legislation to authorize $10 million in broadband funding to help low-income families afford broadband service.

Senate Bill 152 was introduced by Senate Majority Whip Michael Padilla (D-14) and prepared by OBAE in consultation with the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC).

The funding would come from the State Rural Universal Service Fund, which by current statute, has $40 million specifically earmarked for broadband programs.

Update: Los Alamos Daily Post Website Is Fixed

A computer glitch that knocked out the Los Alamos Daily Post website for two days has been fixed. 

The saga began early Thursday morning, during which time articles were posted on the Post’s Facebook page.

Technicians worked to fix the glitch. The site finally began to function normally late Friday night.

Los Alamos County Invites Community To Vote On Name For Community Broadband Network

Los Alamos County invites the community to help choose a name for the Community Broadband Network (CBN) with a brief, one-question survey.

Results will be announced in four weeks, on Feb. 18.
