Candidate
School Board District 1

I am both honored and humbled to receive the endorsement of my candidacy from the Los Alamos Federation of School Employees (LAFSE) (link). This recognition from the educators and staff who dedicate themselves to our children’s learning and well-being means the world to me.

Letter To The Editor: Response To Robert Gibson’s Recent Talk On DPU

By RICHARD NEBEL
Los Alamos

This is in response to Robert Gibson’s recent talk (link) on the DPU given to the Kiwanis Club. I wrote an Op-Ed on May 8, 2025 (link), that discussed why I thought this proposed solar farm project was a bad idea. I won’t repeat that here. Suffice it to say that nothing I wrote in that article was either refuted or challenged. It was simply ignored.

I would like for Mr. Gibson to respond to that Op-Ed piece. In particular, I would like him to respond to the arguments about Los Alamos’s susceptibility to having our power shut off during wind events if we continue to ship power Read More

Letter To The Editor: Support For Antonio Jaurigue—District 2 School Board Candidate

By TERESA JAURIGUE
Los Alamos

I am writing this letter in support of my brother, Antonio Jaurigue, who is running for the school board in District 2. Not only is he my older brother, but he is also one of the best people I know, and that’s not just my personal opinion. Many people in the Los Alamos and White Rock communities who know my brother share the same feeling. When people find out that I’m his sister, the conversation almost always turns into kind words about how genuine, caring, and down-to-earth he is.

Antonio is an incredible uncle to my three kids. He knows each of their unique personalities Read More

Letter To The Editor: Why Antonio Jaurigue Is The Best Choice For School Board District 2

By PHILIP FERNANDES
Los Alamos

As a community, we deserve leaders who act with integrity, transparency, and a genuine commitment to putting students first. That’s why I believe Antonio Jaurigue is the best candidate for School Board District 2.

Antonio has consistently shown that his decisions are guided not by politics or convenience, but by ethics and a deep sense of responsibility to our students and staff. Prior to his wife accepted a teaching position, he made the difficult choice to voluntarily step down from the board, proving his commitment to doing what’s ethical over what’s easy. Read More

Letter To The Editor: Two Years Of Protest … A Journey Of Solidarity, Grief, And Resistance

By EMMA ABATA
Los Alamos

This Saturday, Oct. 18, marks a deeply significant milestone—two years of weekly protest in support of Palestinian freedom. What began as a small act of conscience has grown into a sustained local movement, a space for education, grief, and community, and a relentless demand for justice.

It all began on Oct. 7, 2023, when the world witnessed the Palestinian Resistance fight back against their violent oppressors during the events known as Al-Aqsa Flood. Almost immediately, racist war propaganda flooded the media. False reports of beheaded babies and mass rape were Read More

By DAVID E. HANSON
Los Alamos

There have been a number of letters in the online news sites attesting to the qualifications, commitment and experience of all three candidates, but I would like to share my experience of working with David and Conner on the UNM-LA Advisory Board during the past year.

They have demonstrated a sustained commitment to UNM-LA and are making a real difference in improving the board’s oversight of UNM-LA.

Here is one example of their work on the Board:

One of the important objectives that the Advisory Board is currently concerned with is a proposal to amend the Operating Read More
