Los Alamos County Assessor Issues Notices Of Valuation

Los Alamos County property owners should receive a notice of valuation (NOV) sometime next week in their mailboxes from the County Assessor’s Office.

Officially dropped in the mail today, NOVs reflect the current ownership, legal description, applicable exemptions, and the valuation placed on the property. Upon receipt, property owners are encouraged to read and verify that all information is correct.

Los Alamos County Council Adopts Gas Rate Changes

The Los Alamos County Council held a public hearing for changes to the natural gas rate ordinance and adopted the changes proposed by the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) Tuesday night.

The changes will take effect April 8.

DPU’s natural gas rate includes a fixed portion that covers operating expenses and a variable pass-through component that covers DPU’s actual cost of the natural gas commodity. The changes adopted are all in response to recent volatility in the cost of gas. The fixed rate portion did not change.

County: Road & Utility Improvements Construction To Begin March 27 On 33rd-34th Streets And Arkansas Avenue

Los Alamos County Public Works Department has contracted with TLC Plumbing and Utilities to begin a major utility, storm drain and road improvements project on the 33rd/34th Street loop in the Aspen School neighborhood, and Arkansas Avenue between Diamond Drive and 41st Street in the North Community.

This information also was presented in January at the Public Meeting conducted during the regularly scheduled Transportation Board Meeting.

They will be excavating between 410 and 500 Navajo Road and then south on Totavi. County: Tips For Handling Natural Gas Costs

The final public hearing is scheduled for proposed changes to the natural gas rate ordinance by the Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities (DPU).

The proposed changes aren’t typical rate adjustments and they don’t increase the fixed rates adopted last fall. Instead, they include an increase to the variable rate cap, an additional recovery rate component and a compensatory minimum value for the variable portion of the gas rate.
