The community is invited to chill out midday on New Year’s Eve, removing the need to stay up until midnight. Lean into a low-sensory “Noon” Year’s Eve experience.

At White Rock Branch Library, the County will provide a low-key, self-paced gathering for those of who don’t enjoy loud noises and things falling from the ceiling.

Library staff will have crafts and game stations available for kids who prefer to party at their own pace.

Abiquiu Lake To Host Annual Midwinter Eagle Count Jan. 10

ABIQUIU — U.S. Army Corps of Engineers staff at Abiquiu Lake will host their annual midwinter eagle survey, from 9 a.m.–12 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026.

The event is free and open to the public. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Abiquiu Lake Visitor Center for registration beginning at 9 a.m. The Abiquiu Lake Visitor Center is located on Hwy 96, just 2 miles west of the Hwy 84 junction.

Every December, Ashley Pond turns into a gathering place filled with bright lights, familiar faces, typically some farolitos (put out by the local Scouts), and the unmistakable warmth of the season. This year, Freedom Church is inviting the entire Los Alamos community to join them on Tuesday, Dec. 24 at 4:30 p.m. for their annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service.
