ALBUQUERQUE — New Mexico Gas Company is holding its annual Native American Scholarship Program banquet on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, July 26, at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. Notah Begay III, founder of the NB3 Foundation, golf professional, four-time PGA Tour winner and NBC Golf/Golf Channel analyst will be the guest speaker.

Bureau Of Land Management New Mexico State Office Now Accepting Nominations For Geothermal Development

SANTA FE — The Bureau of Land Management New Mexico State Office is now accepting nominations of lands for competitive geothermal leasing for the next geothermal lease sale that is tentatively scheduled for March 2026. 

All nominations must be received by Sept. 25, 2025.

Geothermal energy is a renewable resource that generates baseload electricity with minimal carbon emissions. Power Restored To Western Area After Lightning Strike

COUNTY News:

Power has been restored to the Western Area after a lightning-related incident occurred at about 12:50 p.m. today. Standby electric linemen from the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities responded to the power outage and by 2 p.m. had restored the electric power.

If power is still out in individual homes, Deputy Utility Manager – Electric Distribution Stephen Marez suggested that residents check their breaker switches before calling to report an outage. Lightning storms can often cause surges that trigger the breaker.

Power Outage Underway In Western Area

They are hoping to restore power within the hour. The cause has not yet been determined.
