District Court Judge Sheri A. Raphaelson sentenced Tyrell Abney of Los Alamos to a three year sentence with three years suspended and three years supervised probation Wednesday during a plea hearing at the Justice Center in Los Alamos.

Los Alamos police detectives charged then 18-year-old Abney in May 2012 with child abuse in the first degree against his infant son.

Deadline to Apply for Probate Judge 5 p.m., July 29

COUNTY News:

The deadline to apply for Probate Judge is 5 p.m., Monday, July 29.

Interested residents should submit a one or two-page letter of interest to the County Administrator, Suite 350, in the Municipal Building at 1000 Central Park Dr.

The Los Alamos County Council will interview applicants and make a selection at its Aug. 13 Council meeting at 7 p.m., in Council Chambers.
