Firefighters Rescue Injured Woman Hiker

Los Alamos Firefighters rescued a hiker who had fallen on Red Dot Trail in White Rock this afternoon while walking with friends. Shortly after noon, a member of her hiking party called out to a passing trail runner and asked him to call emergency dispatch to request help for the injured woman.

Wrecked Airplane Leaves Airport on Final Journey

Motorists passing the Los Alamos County Airport recently may have noticed an airplane being disassembled. Some people stopped to watch the unusual activity Wednesday, Feb. 1, as the plane’s wings and tail were removed and its fuselage hoisted onto a large trailer.

“The plane’s road trip to an aircraft salvage yard in Colorado marked an ignominious end to a 30-year journey in the skies over an estimated half million miles between the Arctic Ocean and Mexico,” said one of its owners, Robert Gibson.

New Dog Park Coming to FEMAville Area

Los Alamos County Parks Division Manager Dick McIntyre and the Parks Division crews will soon begin working on installing the next dog park over at the old “FEMAville” site on North Mesa (the abandoned volleyball courts.)

If the weather holds out, they should wrap up the North Mesa playground installation (near the tennis courts) and then move over to the new dog park location in a few weeks.
