“I like jazz,” said TK Thompson, a photographer who will be showing his work in the Springtime Art Show at Karen Wray Fine Art Gallery April 20 to June 1. “Jazz musicians are free spirits. They’re letting it all hang out. They take risks. I’ve played music all my life. I know what it feels like to be in the groove. It’s magical. ‘Rhythm and Rhyme’ Springs to Life Friday

The dancer is constructed out of old records painted in a kaleidoscope pattern. A slight touch to her circular hips sets her dancing. As the sculpture sways to a rhythm all of its own, the theme of the Fuller Lodge Art Center’s newest show, “Rhythm and Rhyme” also seems to spring to life.

The whole show, Art Center Director Ken Nebel said, “is inspired by poetry, in one way, shape or form.”

Rachel Carson Visits Los Alamos for a Chautauqua on April 18

Empty bowls got filled up at the 18th annual Empty Bowl event, held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.

A lively crowd chose from handmade bowls and enjoyed a choice of delicious soups for a $10 donation. 

About 700 beautiful bowls were available for purchase.

All of the money raised during the Empty Bowl event goes directly to support the work of Self Help, Inc.
