From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday April 7 in the LAMC parking lot, detectives from the Los Alamos Police Department will participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) fourth National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

The event provides a safe way for the general public to deposit expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs and also to prevent pill abuse and theft.

 Sometime before next month’s high school prom, a diverse group of local community members ranging from educators to law enforcement officials to medical personnel to clergy to students and others will conduct an emergency exercise in an effort to draw urgent awareness to the dangers of distracted driving.

LAS CRUCES—This morning, Daud Anwar, 29, a resident of Albuquerque who is a student at New Mexico State University (NMSU), made his initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Las Cruces on an indictment charging him with making a false bomb threat.

If convicted of the offense charged, Anwar faces up to 10 years of imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

Anwar is temporarily detained pending a detention hearing, which has yet to be scheduled.
