Code Red in Los Alamos: our town’s arts heartbeat is at risk.
The Los Alamos Arts Council and Fuller Lodge Art Center are facing a $10,000 year-end deficit, and they need our support now to remain thriving community anchors.
Why this matters…
These spaces offer essential, affordable access to the arts for all ages:
- After-school programs for elementary students, a safe and welcoming environment where kids can explore creativity; giving kids a “third place”;
- Adult art classes that build skills, foster community connections, and help neighbors reconnect with their passions;
- Local art from regional artists, providing affordable gifts that support our own artists and economy;
- Early holiday shopping opportunities and seasonal programming that attract visitors and residents alike;
- Memberships that deliver discounts on classes, gifts, and programs, helping families plan and save; and
- They are the hosts of beloved community events—Kite Festival, Pumpkin Glow, and Arts and Crafts Fairs—just to name a few, and their vitality is what keeps these traditions alive year after year.
Staff have already signaled potential budget cuts and reduced hours. The director has offered to take a pay cut, and board members are donating as much as they can and declining the discount when they shop. So this is the moment for the community to respond.
How you can help today:
- Shop and purchase gifts at Fuller Lodge Art Center, getting a head start on Christmas and special occasions;
- Sign up for a class or workshop to learn something new and support the center;
- Become a member to receive exclusive discounts and ongoing support for the arts;
- Tell friends and family to keep it local and keep our arts scene thriving; and
- Donate: https://www.losalamosartscouncil.org/giving-page-1-1.
Let’s rally behind Los Alamos Arts Council and Fuller Lodge Art Center and ensure our town’s arts offerings remain vibrant for generations to come. Your support—whether through purchases, classes, or memberships—matters.
