MICHELE “MICKI” LEGER June 27, 1942 – Sept. 6, 2014
Michele “Micki” Leger, 72, a longtime resident of Sapello, NM, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Christus St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, NM.
She was born in Albuquerque, NM in June 27, 1942 to Arthur Naylon Morgan, Jr. and Dorothy Jamison. She first lived in Santa Fe then eventually moved up the “Hill” to Los Alamos, NM. She and her siblings grew up with the many canyons of Los Alamos as their backyard and playground. She graduated from Los Alamos High as a Hilltopper in 1960. She then went on to Mercy School of Nursing in Davenport, Iowa earning her nursing license in 1964.
Shortly thereafter, she moved back to NM and began her career at LV Hospital. Being set up on a blind date, she eventually was wed to Lorenzo Leger on September 12, 1969 at Immaculate Conception Church. She worked for Dr. Lazlo Zold for many years until her retirement. She then went on to work at The State Hospital until retirement in 2005. During this time, she also worked at Northeastern Regional Hospital.
A lifelong Catholic, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Arthur and Dorathy Morgan; son: Stephan John Leger and grandson: Carlos Julian Padilla. She is survived by her husband: Lorenzo A. Leger of the family home; sons and daughter: Michael T. Leger and wife Windey of Albuquerque, NM; David P. Leger of New Jersey and Lori A. La Bar and husband Joshua of New Jersey; grandchildren: Katelyn Leger, Dominic Leger, Talia Leger,, Stephen Leger and Ashleigh La Bar; sisters and brothers: Patricia Morgan – Lloyd of Alamosa, CO; Arthur Naylon Morgan III and wife MaryLee of El Dorado; Stephan Morgan and Jeri of Los Alamos, NM; Jami Morgan of Los Alamos, NM; sister-in-law: Pauline Leger of Sapello, NM; brothers-in-law: George Leger and wife Verna of Sapello, NM ,and John Leger and wife Sue of Dallas, TX; numerous: nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
A public viewing will be held at Rogers Mortuary Chapel on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Rosary service will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 7:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, NM. Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 9:00 am also at Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as Celebrant. Serving as Casket Bearers will be: Michael T. Leger, David P. Leger, Dominic Leger, Richard Leger, Daniel Fox and Leo Sanchez. Serving as Honorary Bearers will be all her remaining grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Cremation will take place following services and burial of cremains will be held at a later date.
