JOHN N. HORNE Feb. 15, 1963 – June 15, 2017
Los Alamos County Undersheriff John N. Horne, 54, died June 15, 2017 at his home in Los Alamos.
He leaves behind his loving father, John L. Horne; sister Deborah Barnes and her husband, James; nephew James Horne and family; aunts Susan Rerchert and Sharon Baljie; cousins Dianna Witle, Joann Tapert, Sharon Cooper, Jennifer Shiakallis, Susie Merlo and Christine Anderson, as well as countless friends, colleagues, law enforcement personnel throughout New Mexico and church brothers and sisters.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Sue Horne; uncle, Joseph W. Horne; nephew, Justin W. Horne and cousin, Alane Kamba.
Born Feb. 15, 1963, in Santa Fe, John graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1981. He worked for Los Alamos National Laboratory. He also did some free-lance work and developed many innovative products.
John’s greatest passion was his Christian faith and he was a proud member of the Calvary Chapel of Los Alamos. He loved serving his community and his state and was a strong supporter of the office of sheriff and the constitution of the United States.
John was a member of the New Mexico Mounted Patrol and a long-time member of the Los Alamos Sportsman’s Club.
John’s remains will be escorted Wednesday from Rivera Funeral Home at 305 Calle Salazar in Espanola to Calvary Chapel of Los Alamos at 580 North Mesa Road. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday followed at 11 a.m. by a funeral service after which his remains will be returned to Espanola.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Barnes, Marco Lucero, James Auchempaugh, Kevin Albright, Jeff Seay and Dimitri Yarotski.
