EULALIA ‘LALA’ HARDWICK Dec. 14, 1928 – June 17, 2025

Lala began her journey in this life in the mountain village of Mineral Del Monte, Hidalgo, Mexico. Lala answered the call of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a young woman and went on a church mission in Mexico. It was on that mission that she met her future husband and love of her life, Jack, who had recently found the church and was himself on a mission.

Although Lala and Jack met while on their missions, dating between missionaries was strictly forbidden. Jack, however, was smitten. They continued their relationship and grew their love through weekly letters for the three years remaining in their missionary service. After Jack finished his mission and returned to the United States he proposed marriage to beautiful Lala, by letter. She accepted, and so began the next stage of Lala’s journey through this life.

Lala and Jack moved to Los Alamos in 1954 after Jack accepted an offer to work for radio station KRSN. Lala and Jack raised their four children, Jack (Jr.), Peggy, Monie, and Carole  in Los Alamos, and after the last of their children flew from the nest, Lala and Jack went together on church missions in Ecuador, the Philippines and Salt Lake City, Utah. Lala and Jack saw the world together, while serving their church, and made many trips to Mexico to visit with family over the years.

Lala was beloved by her family and her church congregation in Los Alamos. She sang beautifully, and was famous for her cooking, baking, crocheting, knitting and sewing. Lala loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and brought much joy and love to everyone who knew her. She had a deep faith in God, was generous with her time, and had a gentle sense of humor. Lala will be greatly missed and remembered with deep fondness and affection.
Lala passed peacefully surrounded by her beloved husband of 71 years, Jack, and their children.

Lala was preceded in death by her parents Odilón and Hermelinda Jaramillo, sisters Luz, Carmen and Elisa and brother Rafael, son James, grandson Christopher Blum and many dear and close friends from her church.

Lala is survived by her husband Jack and their four children, son-in-law Tom Blum, grandchildren Kimberly Kulovitz (Weston), Jackson Hardwick (Jack O’Donnell), Starr Blum and Ali Blum (Alex Cruikshank), great grandchildren, June and Sylvie Cruikshank,
great grandchildren Gwenivere and Genevieve Kulovitz, sister Margarita, niece Veronica, many more nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and many close friends.

A memorial service for Lala will be held at 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1967 18th St, Los Alamos, New Mexico.
