Dr. SCOT D. JOHNSON June 15, 1968 – Oct. 2, 2024
Dr. Scot Douglas Johnson passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, as a result of a cycling accident in Los Alamos, New Mexico, on Sunday, September 29. He was 56 years old.
Scot was born on June 15, 1968, in Versailles, France, to Paul Douglas Johnson and Maria Victoria Johnson. The second of three sons, he and his brothers, Conrad and Christian, grew up in Los Alamos, NM.
Scot was a beloved fixture of the Los Alamos Little Theatre, an avid cyclist, and a karaoke aficionado. He enjoyed In-N-Out Burger, boba, hunting for the perfect cappuccino, and picking fruit from every fruit tree he encountered. He loved traveling with his wife, Sylvie Johnson, and his father- and mother-in-law, Juergen and Aaltje Voss. Although Scot battled seasickness, he loved taking cruises and exploring the world with the people he loved.
Scot worked as an environmental specialist at Los Alamos National Laboratory and had been employed at LANL since 2001. He planned on retiring at 60 and living in Germany and Palm Springs for six months of the year, respectively. He looked forward to continuing to explore the world with the love of his life.
Scot is preceded in death by his mother and favorite pets, Daisy, Rosalie, Sylvester, and a guinea pig with a multitude of aliases. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sylvie Johnson, their four children, Jonah, Lily, Nina, and Heidi, his father, Paul Johnson, and his brothers, Conrad and Christian.
Scot leaves behind a remarkable legacy of scientific and personal achievement. He will be remembered for his love of family, travel, and ice cream. An organ donor, his significant contributions to the world and his generous spirit live on even after his passing.
A service will be held in his honor on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Los Alamos, New Mexico. All who wish to celebrate Scot’s life are welcome.
