CAROLE SUE (JOHNSON) LEHMANN Nov. 2, 1939 – Nov. 1, 2024

Carole Sue (Johnson) Lehmann went to heaven on Friday, November 1, 2024, just one day shy of her 85th birthday.

Carole was born November 2, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, to Gordon “Buddy” and Myrtle Johnson. Carole was the oldest of 5 children. She graduated from Downers Grove High School in 1957.

Carole met James Lehmann (Downers Grove High School, Class of 1955) on a church youth group hayride, and they were married in 1959. Carole & Jim welcomed their only child, Deborah (Debbie), in 1960.

In 1969, Jim was transferred from Argonne National Laboratory to Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. When Jim retired in 1993, they moved to Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

Carole was an avid bowler and enjoyed knitting and plastic canvas crafts. She collected butterfly items, bells, and Beanie babies. She loved playing cards and was in a bridge group while in Los Alamos.

Carole is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jim Lehmann, one daughter, Debbie (Ken Atkinson); two grandchildren, Erin and Brandon; siblings Barbara Johnson, Gordon Johnson (Buddy), Judi (Johnson) Fitch, and Sally (Johnson) Talmage; and many nieces and nephews.
