The League of Women Voters of Los Alamos (LWVLA) invites the community to its Lunch with a Leader event, 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at the Unitarian Fellowship Hall on Sage Street.
This month’s leader is Los Alamos County Board of Public Utilities (BPU) Chair Robert Gibson, who will be discussing Los Alamos’ path to a carbon-free energy future: “Utilities and You!”
Los Alamos County’s goal to be a carbon-neutral community by mid-century will require phasing out natural gas and carbon-based electricity. Gibson’s talk will outline the challenges and how citizens and the County can, together, meet them.
Gibson previously served on the BPU 20 years ago, between serving terms on the County Council. He has also served on several other public boards and committees and as a bill analyst at the New Mexico State Legislature.
Gibson is a physicist and electrical engineer. Retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory, he continues to work on technical projects and hobbies and remains an active pilot, hiker, and traveler.
