The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is excited to share a full slate of outdoor, science, and arts‐focused day camps for children entering grades 1–8, with programs based at the Los Alamos Nature Center and two additional camps offered in the Española Valley.
PEEC’s summer camps provide hands‐on learning, outdoor exploration, and opportunities for children to build confidence, make friends, and connect with the natural and cultural landscapes of Northern New Mexico.

2026 Summer Camps
Española Valley Camps
Grades 1–3: Los Luceros Day Camp (June 1–5, 2026)
A hands‐on outdoor camp at Los Luceros Historic Site where children explore the bosque, learn about water, birds, plants, and wildlife, and enjoy nature‐based activities and projects.
Location: Los Luceros Historic Site, Alcalde.
Grades 4–6: Valley Voyagers (June 15–19, 2026) – WAITLISTED
A weeklong exploration of the Española Valley’s cultural and natural heritage. Campers engage in heritage arts, investigate geology, visit petroglyph sites, and learn about the importance of water in the region through daily field trips and hands‐on activities.
Location: Northern Rio Grande National Heritage Area Partner Center, Española.

Los Alamos Camps
Grades 1–3: Pathfinders – PEECachu! (June 8–12, 2026)
A lively outdoor adventure camp where young explorers hike local trails, play in nature, and discover the canyons and forests around the Los Alamos Nature Center and Los Conchas.
Grades 1–3: Pathfinders – Block Party (June 29–July 3, 2026)
A second session of Pathfinders featuring outdoor play, exploration, and creative activities that help campers connect with nature and each other.
Grades 4–6: Nature Odyssey – Outdoor ARTventure (June 22–26, 2026)
A week of outdoor exploration and creativity. Campers investigate local parks and trails, create nature journals, and make art using natural materials while learning about the environment.
Grades 4–6: Space Camp (July 6–10, 2026) – WAITLISTED
A STEM‐focused week filled with science experiments, rocket launches, engineering challenges, and planetarium time. Campers build teamwork and problem‐solving skills through indoor and outdoor activities.
Grades 7–8: Living Earth Adventure Program (LEAP) (June 8–12, 2025)
A high‐adventure program featuring camping in the Jemez Mountains, rafting in the Rio Grande Valley, and daily outdoor challenges that build resilience, teamwork, and confidence.
Grades 7–8: Space Camp 2.0 (June 22–26, 2026)
An advanced space science experience where campers tackle NASA‐inspired missions, engineer multi‐day projects, and explore complex space concepts through hands‐on activities.
PEEC was founded in 2000 to serve the community of Los Alamos. It offers people of all ages a way to enrich their lives by strengthening their connections to our canyons, mesas, mountains, and skies. PEEC operates the Los Alamos Nature Center at 2600 Canyon Road, holds regular programs and events, and hosts several interest groups, from birding to hiking to butterfly watching. PEEC activities are open to everyone; however, members receive exclusive benefits such as discounts on programs and gift shop merchandise. Annual memberships start at $35.
