The School for Advanced Research in Santa Fe and the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa have announced the launch of a free 2026 virtual speaker series for museum professionals and the public.
In this series, national museum leaders from Indigenous and non-Indigenous institutions will share how they are redefining collections care by centering Indigenous knowledge, authority, and lived experience.
The series precedes the national release of an Indigenous Collections Care Guide and features leading voices reshaping museum practice across the U.S.

Clarification: Atomic City Transit Holiday Service Schedule
COUNTY News:
In observance of the upcoming holidays, Atomic City Transit will not operate regular bus service or ATC MyRide on Thursday, Dec. 25 (Christmas Day) or on Thursday, Jan. 1, (New Year’s Day).
Regular bus services and ACT MyRide will resume on Friday, Dec. 26, 2025, and Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, after the holidays.
No peak service
- From Dec. 26 through Jan. 2, bus routes will operate without peak service intervals. Routes 1 and 6 will continue operating on their standard schedules throughout the day, with Route 1 providing downtown circulator service every half hour and Route 6 serving

Does art imitate life or does life imitate art? This question can stimulate a lot of discussion for us humans with our dualistic minds. Is the artwork a reflection of reality by the artist, or does the artwork influence the reality of the viewer? I’ll save my answer until later. Giant Totem Pole: The giant totem pole is the centerpiece of the Ed Galloway Totem Pole Park. The 90-foot-tall structure is a piece of art from the ground to the top. Two hundred works of art adorn the exterior walls and many are bas-relief or raised from the surface of the structure creating a three dimensional effect. SANTA FE — Deteriorating roads cost New Mexico drivers $3.6 billion a year, and the state has $5.6 billion in unfunded transportation needs.
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will present its $487 million nonrecurring request for fiscal year 2027 to the Legislative Finance Committee on Wednesday, citing declining fuel tax revenues, rising construction costs and diverse transportation sector needs.
The department’s proposed fiscal year 2027 operating budget is $1.3 billion — a $29.9 million decrease from the current fiscal year. Read More
