The Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC) continues its Daytime Performance Series, noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 4 at Fuller Lodge. Pianist Yoshiko Arahata, D.M.A. is the performer for June.
Arahata, is a Yamaha Artist, and her program also highlights her ongoing research on Latin American Piano Literature Beyond the Canon.
Arahata is an assistant professor at New Mexico State University, where she is developing a brand-new Collaborative Piano curriculum. A versatile soloist, collaborative and chamber musician, and composer, she was named a fellow of the prestigious Gilmore International Piano Festival. Her performances and compositions have been featured across the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America—including appearances at Carnegie Hall, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Preston Bradley Hall, and on multiple radio broadcasts.
The community is invited to join Arahata’s June 4 performance for an afternoon of rich and colorful solo piano music, featuring gems from the classical repertoire by composers such as Joseph Haydn and Alexander Scriabin, all the way to vibrant modern, jazz, and tango works by living composers Henry Martin, Pablo Ziegler, and more.
This performance is free and open to the public.
