Replace hardware on 50 water valves in the Quemazon subdivision
DPU’s water crews are proactively replacing the hardware on 50 water valves in Quemazon before this winter to mitigate water line breaks in the area. DPU crews will work on weekends until all 50 are repaired.
Water valve maintenance/repairs are scheduled for the following locations between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Drivers should expect to see flagging operations to assist traffic flow safely.
Traffic and Streets staff will follow behind to repair the concrete and asphalt disrupted by the water valve repairs. Traffic and Streets will work Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. Sections of the sidewalk may be closed for repair, orange barrels may be in the roadway over manholes, and flagging operations may be in place as needed. Minimal traffic interruptions are anticipated.
Read DPU’s August 6, 2024 press release for more details.
Overlook Park Irrigation Work Continues
The trail section at Overlook Park between Spirio Soccer Field and Softball Field 3 is closed to all traffic, including pedestrians. This closure is necessary for work on interconnecting the irrigation system with the potable water system as a backup to the reclaimed water that is typically used to water the fields. This work is expected to wrap up in the next week.
Non-County Projects:
The following construction projects are not funded by Los Alamos County. Updates are included to keep residents informed of potential traffic impacts. Questions should be directed to the parties identified within each description. Please obey all traffic devices and slowdown in work zones.
