State leaders looking for a way to address a litigated claim that New Mexico is not providing enough water to Texas under a decades-old compact want funding for a water conservation pilot program south of Elephant Butte.
Though the plan remains vague, both Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and the Legislative Finance Committee are proposing to support it by allocating funding to the project in the 2021 fiscal year.

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe National Forest’s (SFNF’s) Española Ranger Station is making a move.
After 21 years at 1710 N. Riverside Dr., the Española District Office is relocating about 5 miles south to 18537 US 84/285, Suite B. The telephone number – 505.753.7331 – remains the same.
The office on Riverside will be open to the public Monday and Tuesday next week, but closed Jan. 29-31 for the actual move. The office will reopen for business Monday, Feb. 3 in its new location.
