LALT Postpones ‘Glitter Girls’ Performances Through Sunday

Los Alamos Little Theatre (LALT) is postponing its performances of “The Glitter Girls” scheduled through Sunday.

“Concerns around the coronavirus pandemic are real and evolving rapidly. Many activities are being affected,” LALT Board President Craig Taylor said. “In consultation with the director of the Glitter Girls and the rest of the LALT Board of Directors we have decided it is prudent, reasonable, and the right action to postpone this weekend’s performances.” 

Taylor said LALT would refund patrons for tickets already purchased or credit them for another performance date. Read More

Marilyn Wightman Demonstrates Pastel Painting Feb. 22

ART News:

Plein air painter Marilyn Wightman will be doing a Pastel Painting demonstration at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 at Fuller Lodge Art Center.

As a participant in the “Six of One” Exhibition underway at Fuller Lodge Art Center, Wightman is known for her pastel landscapes and has used the pastel medium since she was a teenager.

Using her plein air set-up but working from a photo, participants can observe the steps she takes to complete a successful painting.

Wightman is happy to answer questions so feel free to come and see her in action.

LALT Holds Auditions For ‘Calendar Girls’

Los Alamos Little Theatre announces auditions for its May production, “Calendar Girls,” written by Tim Firth and directed for LALT by Bev Brunson.
 
Auditions are 6-8 p.m. Feb. 20 and 21 at the Performing Arts Center, 1670 Nectar St.
In addition, LALT is holding a reading of the play at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at LALT. Anyone interested in reading or listening is invited to attend.

Roadside Art: World’s Smallest Target Found In Texas

A tiny decaying cinder block building located between Marathon, Texas and Alpine, Texas is now Target Marathon. The building was probably used by the railroad in the past as tracks sit just a few feet behind the structure. It is not known who created the miniature Target, which comes with a red shopping cart out in front. It was first seen in 2016. The world’s smallest Target sits alongside U.S. Highway 90 between the roadway and the train tracks. New Show ‘Inside Arts’ Begins Airing On PAC 8 Feb. 16

PAC 8 News:

Los Alamos Museum of Art and PAC 8 Community Media Center have teamed up and produced a series of recordings featuring regional artists, musicians and collectors.

The new show, called Inside Arts will begin airing Feb. 16 and will air weekly at 8:30 p.m. Sundays, 4 p.m. Tuesdays and 8 p.m. Thursdays on Cable Channel 8 in Los Alamos.

The shows feature T.K Thompson, Karen Wray, Robert Wells, Ken Hanson, The Hot Flashes, Ruth Williamson and Petr and Louise Jandacek. Other productions are underway.
