Bike Swap at Los Alamos Co-op Sunday

The Los Alamos Cooperative Market will host its inaugural Bike Swap from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday June 10.

Los Alamos Singletrack Association (LASA), an International Mountain Biking Association affiliated club is sponsoring the event.

The Bike Swap is an opportunity for bicycle enthusiasts to sell and buy quality used (and new) bicycles, parts and accessories.

The Bike Swap includes:

  • FREE Bike Safety Checks;
  • Bike Related Raffles;
  • Grilled Food for Purchase;

The Blue Window Bistro celebrates a second anniversary under the ownership of Melissa Paternoster this summer.
 
The past two years have seen new events as well as increased catering service and new menu items.

T. Jackson King, archaeologist, science fiction author, and poet, will read from “Mother Earth’s Stretch Marks” at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 7 at Ruby K’s Bagel Café.

Tickets to the event are $10, which includes the book and refreshments, and will be available at the door the night of the event. Otowi Station Bookstore and Ruby K’s are sponsoring the event.

Quality New Mexico is accepting applications for the 2012 NM Performance Excellence Awards. The awards, which will be awarded next spring, include:

  • Piñon Recognition, commitmentto performance excellence
  • Roadrunner Recognition, progress toward performance excellence
  • Zia Award for Performance Excellence, best-in-class results

Organizations wishing to participate in the awards program must send in an intent to apply form by June 15. It can be obtained at  www.qualitynewmexico.org.
