100+ Women Who Care News:

It’s hard to believe, but this month, 100+ Women Who Care – Los Alamos is marking its 10th anniversary of providing philanthropic giving to local non-profit organizations. Each person attending the group’s quarterly dinner and giving events donates $100 or partners with others to contribute a portion of $100, which supports the mission of 100+ Women Who Care to reach out and help the community by collecting contributions for local nonprofits, without the time-consuming effort normally associated with fundraising.

To celebrate this 10-year milestone, all five founding members: Kristy Ortega, Dr. Marvel Harrison, Stephanie Garcia Richard, Debbie Shelton and Carol A. Clark, will attend a special event being held to highlight the occasion on Aug. 7, at Beef & Leaf.

The founders shared their thoughts on the important impact 100+ Women Who Care – Los Alamos has made on the community and its non-profit organizations:

Kristy Ortega: “The power of putting people together, each doing a small part in contributing $100 and creating a big impact, confirms the ‘Power of Together’”.

Dr. Marvel Harrison: “100+ Women Who Care matters. It is a global giving circle supporting local charities with local funds and a low-stress way to share and care about our community. One of the things I like best about 100+ Women Who Care is that the monies shared are unencumbered. We trust the local charity to use the funds in the way that makes the most sense to them. We don’t control, we don’t manage, we are women who trust.”

Stephanie Garcia Richard: “As one of the cofounders of the Los Alamos chapter of 100+ Women Who Care, I am so gratified to see that it is still going strong! I think that is a testament to the generous spirit of women in Los Alamos.”

Debbie Shelton: “100+ Women Who Care in Los Alamos is an organization that utilizes ‘woman power’ to better an already great community that has pockets of need. Donations in a small town make a disproportionately large impact where resources are limited and non-profits are less likely to receive state or national funding. These donations have direct, positive impacts, promoting deeper, more meaningful connections while bridging disparities in the quality of life for individuals within our immediate community. Simply put, this organization makes life more positive for persons who are struggling, strengthening the core of our collective.”

Carol A. Clark: Every quarterly giving event we’ve hosted during the last 10 years has filled each of us with joy at seeing the kindness and compassion exhibited by the many women in our community who gather with us to support our beloved non-profits that do so much to help our neighbors in need. We also want to take this opportunity to thank the businesses that sponsor our quarterly giving events and Los Alamos Community Foundation for being our fiscal agent.”

100+ Women Who Care – Los Alamos expresses its gratitude to TechSource, Inc., for so generously sponsoring this special 10th anniversary event, which includes food prepared by Beef & Leaf. Please plan to join in the celebration, 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at Beef & Leaf, 3801 Arkansas Ave. Suite G!
