BARBARA JEAN POLLOCK July 17, 2025

Barbara Jean Pollock passed away peacefully at home and surrounded by her family in Los Alamitos, California, on July 17, 2025, at the age of 93.

Barbara was the first of four children born to Howard and Rebecca Roepnack of Arvada, CO. While attending the University of Colorado in Boulder, she met and married Raymond Pollock, Jr. They moved to Santa Monica, CA, where they had two children, Clifford Raymond Pollock and Craig Howard Pollock.

In 1957, the family moved to Los Alamos, NM, where Barbara raised her family. Favorite memories of this time included the many times Barbara would take the boys to visit the Bandelier and Tsankawi Indian ruins.

When the boys were in school, Barbara worked part-time at Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. During this time, Barbara earned her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of New Mexico and began working at LASL as an analyst.

After her children departed for college and following a divorce settlement, she began her second career as an analyst at BDM Corporation in Albuquerque, NM. Her independence enabled her to take on new assignments in Louisiana, Arkansas, Nevada, and California.

Barbara began her venture into real estate investment by purchasing residences at each locale, then transitioning them to rental properties each time she moved on to a new assignment.

While in Nevada, Barbara earned her Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. After 30 years with Northrop Grundman (which acquired BDM), Barbara retired and settled in Los Alamitos, CA where she honed her skills as a casual stock market day trader, which she actively enjoyed until just before her passing.

Barbara continued her lifelong hobby of hosting and participating in bridge clubs that she had begun in Los Alamos.

In 2024, Barbara decided to move into the home of her son Craig and daughter-in-law Sharon, also in Los Alamitos, where she spent the remainder of her days. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters LaVonne Kahre and Elaine Roepnack, and her brother Ralph Roepnack.

She is survived by her two sons Clif (Melissa) and Craig (Sharon), six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Her final resting place is at Forrest Lawn in Cypress, CA.
