Community News:
Samizdat Bookstore and Los Alamos Arts Council invite the community to an afternoon exploring the art of storytelling with Yvonne Montoya, choreographer and Artistic Director of Tucson’s Safos Dance Theatre.
Montoya, along with dancers Delia Ibañez and Esteban Rosales, will guide participants in using storytelling in a highly interactive workshop to explore themes of community, home and the history of Los Alamos.
In groups of 2-3, participants will follow a series of prompts to share a fun or interesting story about themselves and their home. The workshop will conclude with a performance of a monologue from Stories From Home.
This workshop is inspired by Stories From Home, an evening length dance piece that is a series of dances embodying the oral traditions of Nuevomexicano and Chicano communities in the American Southwest.
The people of Los Alamos, White Rock and neighboring communities are invited to participate in this free, all-ages event at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14 in the south wing of Fuller Lodge Art Center, 2132 Central Ave.
