COUNTY News:

Project Oppenheimer has been awarded the Historical Society of New Mexico Dorothy Woodward Award.

The efforts of Team Oppie, the core Project Oppenheimer Team, and the Los Alamos Community are responsible for this honor.

Notice of the Award:

On behalf of the Historical Society of New Mexico Awards Committee, I am pleased to inform you that Project Oppenheimer has been selected to receive the HSNM Dorothy Woodward Award. This award recognizes significant work in the advancement of education in New Mexico history. The awards committee was impressed with the way the Los Alamos community, and so many diverse organizations, were able to come together to promote the history of Los Alamos, the laboratory and the story that unfolded there. Clearly this group effort has had important impacts on educating a wide audience about how events at Los Alamos influenced New Mexico, U.S., and world history. We applaud the foresight shown by tapping into the popularity and acclaim of the Oppenheimer movie and leveraging that interest for both education of New Mexico history and community economic development.

Once again, congratulations on your wonderful efforts.

Sincerely,

Dennis Daily, Chair
HSNM Awards Committee
