- The credit union challenged team members to shave for a good cause and bring awareness to men’s health issues
SANTA FE — Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU), New Mexico’s hometown financial cooperative has presented a $1,000 donation to Southwest Care Center of New Mexico.
DNCU established a challenge for employees in November—shave at the beginning of the month and grow a creative and unique mustache, beard or both; the winner would choose the organization the donation would be made to on behalf of the credit union.
The winner, DNCU Executive Administrator Brian Lee Gonzales, was chosen from six other participants in December by DNCU team members.
“We look for fun ways to include our team members in our philanthropic pursuits that improve lives in New Mexico,” DNCU President/CEO Chuck Valenti said. “The Movember Challenge is a great example of DNCU’s spirit and culture to help others and bring awareness to issues that impact our communities.”
“I was happy to choose Southwest Care because of their impact in our community,” Gonzales said. “I am proud to be part of an organization that uplifts our communities while engaging our team members—the Movember Challenge was a creative way for all of us to have fun while improving lives.” Gonzales has been part of the DNCU team for 28 years.
“We are honored that DNCU chose our organization for a $1,000 donation,” said Southwest CARE Center Chief Executive Officer Jeff Thomas. “We value our community partners that help us live out our mission to provide quality healthcare to the culturally diverse communities of New Mexico.”
