MARILYN A. BENDT July 3, 1932 – May 7, 2016Marilyn Bendt, our beloved mother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on the evening of May 7th ,2016. She was 83.
Marilyn was born in Evanston, Illinois on July 3rd to Walter and Mabel Brummer. She grew up in Chicago, Illinois. She attended college at the University of Illinois in Champagne Urbana, Illinois, where she recieved her Bachelors degree. She taught high school spanish. Marilyn met and married her first husband Robert Cowan there as well.
She and her husband moved to Los Alamos in 1957. Marilyn worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory as a technical writer for many years. She also volunteered at Los Alamos Medical Center.
Marilyn was a long time member of the Unitarian Church. She met and married her second husband Phillip Bendt through the church. Marilyn and Phillip loved to go camping and traveled the world together.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters Annette Chavez (Jerry) of Albuquerque, Diana Morrow (Steven) of Fort Collins, Colorado, stepchildren Kabin Sox (Tom), Barbara Midlin (Ken), Paul Bendt, Linda Sue Garner, Margaret Anne McClure, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband Phillip Bendt, her parents Walter and Mabel Brummer, and a sister, Rogene Brummer.
Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held later at Guaje Pines Cemetery with honorary pall bearers Keith Chavez, Daniel Chavez, Adrienne Chavez-Bowen, Michelle Chavez and Olivia Morrow.
