Power Pass Prioritizes Affordability For 2026-27 With Continued Price Freeze; Pajarito Mountain To Debut Major Snowmaking Transformation

PAJARITO News:

The Power Pass is on sale, marking a fourth consecutive year with no price increases. By maintaining rates across its international network, the Power Pass continues to make skiing and snowboarding attainable for the families and “Little Bird” loyalists of Northern New Mexico.

While pricing holds steady, reinvestment is accelerating. This year, the Power Pass is committing more than $37.5 million to mountain infrastructure globally, headlined by a transformative snowmaking project at Pajarito Mountain in Los Alamos. A cornerstone of the Jemez Mountain Regional Fire Protection Project, this public-private partnership with Los Alamos County and the state of New Mexico will build a pipeline to deliver reliable water for snowmaking operations beginning in the 2026-27 season. The project also supports regional safety through a new reservoir for fire protection.

“While much of the industry has accepted annual price increases as a foregone conclusion, we believe the future of skiing depends on affordability,” MCP Marketing Director Stacey Glaser said. “We are holding the line on pass prices for a fourth consecutive year because skiing and snowboarding shouldn’t be a luxury. It should be a way of life for the families and young adults who are the heartbeat of our communities.”

More Than $37.5 Million in Network Improvements

Capital improvements across the network are designed to expand terrain access and enhance the guest experience ahead of the 2026-27 season:

  • Pajarito, N.M.: The new snowmaking system will significantly increase coverage on Pajarito Mountain, allowing for consistent daily operations for the first time in the mountain’s history.
  • Lee Canyon, Nev.: Debut of a fourth new lift in three years—a fixed-grip quad expanding access to West Bowl.
  • Purgatory, Colo.: Construction of the Gelande Lift, a fixed-grip triple chair opening five new expert trails.
  • Valle Nevado and La Parva, Chile: Over $17.5 million in improvements, including new residences and modernized lift infrastructure for the 2026 Southern Hemisphere season.

Growing the Future: Kids 12 and Younger Ski Free

The Power Kids pass remains the only season pass in the country to offer children 12 and younger free skiing with no purchase required and no blackout dates. This remains a core pillar of the “Skiing For All” movement, aimed at increasing the Power Kids demographic by 12% to build long-term family loyalty in the Southwest.
