NHCC News:
In collaboration with Festival Ballet Albuquerque, the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) is thrilled to bring the holiday classic Nutcracker in the Land of Enchantment back to the stage for its 15th year Friday, Dec. 19 through Sunday, Dec. 21.
Performances start at 7 p.m., Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Center.
The beloved holiday classic The Nutcracker is transported to territorial New Mexico in the late 1800s, with elements of our state’s heritage and traditions incorporated into the story. These New Mexican touches include Spanish dancers, and characters that include Southwestern snakes, sheep, and shepherdesses, lively fandango dancers, a Storyteller doll with children, Mr. Coyote and Ms. Roadrunner, and even a dancing Zozobra!
Resplendent in classical tradition, this production of The Nutcracker showcases New Mexico’s unique heritage while maintaining the classical grace of its origins. A live orchestra performs under the baton of Maestro Guillermo Figueroa, Music Director of the Santa Fe Symphony.‘’
Tickets range from $16 to $55, with discounts for seniors, children 10 years old and younger and NHCC members. Tickets are available at nhccnm.org/events.
