Obituary: Timothy Thomas Morrison Aug. 18, 1977 – Oct. 18, 2025

TIMOTHY THOMAS MORRISON Aug. 18, 1977 – Oct. 18, 2025

The elusive Timothy Thomas Morrison passed away unexpectedly (which was just like him!) on Saturday October 18, 2025 at the age of 48.

Tim made his first appearance in Idaho Falls, Idaho on August 18, 1977, and moved with his family to Los Alamos, NM in 1982. After graduating from Los Alamos High School in 1996, Tim went on to officially earn an Associate’s degree in Information Technology, and Bachelor’s degrees in both Physics and Mathematics, although his intellect and lifelong passion for learning likely qualified him for even more fancy certificates.

Tim’s eclectic range of occupations included inspecting power plants for the EPA, teaching English in China, and frequent travel to Mexico. However, Tim was most well known and loved for his years spent managing the Los Alamos Co-Op. An integral part of its success from the beginning, Tim believed strongly in co-ops and worker-owned businesses, and worked hard to put his philosophy into practice in all aspects of his life.

Mischievous and inquisitive, Tim approached life with the philosophy of a true scientist. From disassembling and reassembling the family computer at the age of 6 (he fixed it, by the way) to debating the intricacies of quantum physics, Tim had a deep-seated need to know how the world worked and always “just wanted to see what would happen.” He also loved debate, long discussions on how to solve all the world’s problems, and would frequently switch sides in arguments just to keep the talk going (to the amusement or frustration of his conversational partners).

Those who knew Tim well would agree that he was something of an enigma. Private and charismatic, both a leader and a nomad, he will be remembered for his infectious smile, his diabolical sense of humor, and his eternal love of shenanigans. Wherever life took him, nothing made Tim happier than solving the problems of the universe over a game of chess and an extremely strong cup of coffee. Tim was earnest and kind with everyone he met, and although reluctant to accept help, was always generous in giving it. His family and friends will miss him deeply, but take comfort in knowing that wherever his next adventure takes him, Tim will be delighted for a new opportunity to “find out what will happen”.

Timothy is preceded in death by his father, Bob Morrison, and is survived by his mother, Dee Morrison, his sister Jennifer, his brother Tyler, his faithful dog Frodo, his niblings Taylor, Gareth, and Asher, and the love of literally everyone who knew him.

Assuming that all this is not one of his pranks, a celebration of Tim’s life will be held at Fuller Lodge in Los Alamos on Sunday, November 2 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Dress comfortably, bring laughter, and bring your favorite Tim stories; we will provide the Kleenex.

Rivera Funeral home of Los Alamos thanks the Morrison family for their trust during this time. Please feel encouraged to leave messages and stories for the family to cherish at www.riverafamilyfuneralhome.com.
