COUNTY News:

Services such as mail delivery, trash and recycling collection, and emergency services will be maintained for each project. Residents and businesses will often experience large equipment and construction noise.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to always use caution and slow down around construction activities and avoid entering work zones outside of designated detour paths.

Road Closures:

EVENT: Homecoming Parade

  • Location: Central Ave., Los Alamos
  • Date: Sept. 19
  • Time: Closure in place from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
  • Impact: Central Ave. CLOSURE from 4 th St. to Rose Street: Significant increase in pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle traffic expected around the time of the event.

Sewer Line Repair

  • Location: 437 Bryce Ave, White Rock
  • Date: Sept. 19-25
  • Time: Closure in place from 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Impact: CLOSURE from Bryce Ave. at Connie Ave. west towards Aragon Ave. Detours will be in place on Connie Ave and Aragon Ave.

Longview Drive – Demolition of existing buildings, installation of infrastructure, and construction of a new subdivision

  • Location: Longview Drive, White Rock
  • Date: Through Sept. 30

  • Impact: Road closure in place. Winding road adjacent to Longview Drive remains open.

Jemez Mountain Fire Protection Project water pipeline installation

  • Location: West Road and Camp May Road, Los Alamos
  • Date: Through November 2025
  • Time: Monday-Thursday
  • Impact: Camp May Road closed Monday- Thursday, as are trails accessible from Camp May Road. Entrance/exit to Camp May is closed and locked from Sunday afternoon until Friday morning.

Bathtub Row Reconstruction Project

  • Location: Bathtub Row, Nectar Street, Peach Street, Juniper Street in Los Alamos
  • Date: Through Sept. 30
  • Time: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with Fridays and weekends, as needed
  • Impact: Substantial completion has been met. Construction crews will remain onsite for two weeks to complete punch list items. Full road closure on Bathtub Row from Juniper Street to Peach/ Nectar, including Peach Street/Bathtub Row intersection. An additional full road closure on Nectar Street from Bathtub Row to 15th Street.

Concrete Barrier Wall Removal

  • Location: Trinity Drive at Ashley Pond Park in Los Alamos
  • Date: Sept. 19-23
  • Time: 7 a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Impact: Lane shift to the left for westbound traffic. Vehicle and bicycle traffic will share the road.

  • Location: Cheryl Ave. and Aragon Ave., White Rock
  • Date: Through Sept. 30

Pavement markings removal and installation

  • Location: Trinity Drive at 35th St., Los Alamos
  • Date: Through Sept. 22

  • Impact: Vehicle traffic will be partially shifted to the shoulder on each side of Trinity Drive

ADA Ramp Installation at Pinon Elementary School and Valley Gutter Repair

  • Location: Sherwood Blvd. at Pinon Elementary School, White Rock
  • Date: Sept. 17–Oct. 31

  • Impact: Sidewalk Closure and road work ahead

Crack Sealing

  • Location: Sioux, Cheyenne, Iroquois, Seminole, Yuma, and Ute streets in Los Alamos
  • Date: Through Sept. 22–Oct. 3
  • Time: 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Impact: Moving flagging operation and temporary lane closures

LANL: Repaving of East Jemez Road

  • Location: East Jemez Road, from the NM-4 intersection (mile marker 10) to the start of the three lanes and the climbing lane (mile marker 7.6)
  • Date: Through Sept. 30
  • Time: 6 a.m.–6 p.m. Seven days a week
  • Impact: Anticipate traffic delays and potential traffic pattern shifts during this project.

  • EVENT: Clean Up Los Alamos Day
  • Location: Los Alamos and White Rock
  • Date: Sept. 20
  • Time: 8 a.m.–4:15 p.m.
  • Impact: Increased presence of pedestrians along the sidewalks, shoulders, and in the medians of roadways across the County, as well as in parking lots and open spaces.

EVENT: UllrFest

  • Location: Pajarito Mountain, Camp May Road, West Road in Los Alamos
  • Date: Sept. 20
  • Time: 9 a.m.–6 p.m. – ACT shuttles will be running from Duane Smith Auditorium from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Impact: Increased pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle and ACT bus traffic will be present along
  • Camp May Road, West Road, and in the area of the ski hill.

EVENT: 45th Annual Fall Craft Fair

  • Location: Central Park Square and Downtown in Los Alamos
  • Date: Oct. 4

  • Impact: Significant increase in pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle traffic expected around the time of the event – especially at the beginning and end for vendor set-up and tear-down.
